The other night Patrick and I went into our secret hiding place for the presents and got everything out in order to make sure the kids were some what even with gifts.
Oh. My. God. I must have lost my mind because I went completely overboard. I am embarrassed, but I already knew that I have a problem when it comes to shopping!
This year we were on a budget and the kids already have so much, we decided we weren't going to go crazy. That was until I got a hold of the credit card apparently! I would say they maybe have the same if not a little more than last year. Patrick says, no way, they have at least double what they did last year. They'll be opening gifts until we head to the cemetery!
Next year, I promise, I'm going to try and hold back!! :-)

What is Y3W??
For some of you that read my blog, you probably have no clue what Y3W is that I do most Friday's. I thought I would take this time to explain.
I have been following Jenni's blog for quite some time now and this is something that she started awhile ago. The point of Your Three Words is to sum up your week in just three words. It could be something that happened during the week, or maybe something that's taking place of the upcoming weekend.
She has a Y3W post every Friday morning and there is a blog hop. You write your Y3W and then link your post to her page and so do lots of other people. You can then click on anyone that's there and it will take you to their pages.
I love seeing all the things that different people come up with!
So that's what I'm doing when you see Y3W at the beginning of my Friday posts. Now, mine may not always sum up my week or weekend, they just might be 3 words that actually made sense together. I'm new to this whole blogging thing so I figure...at least I'm trying! :-)

Aiden - 4 & 1/2 Years Old
Dear Aiden,
Today is the day that you are officially 4 & 1/2 years old. I cannot believe that much time has passed by. I can still remember when you would wake up at night insisting to "rock with Mommy"...and now, you want Daddy to take you back to bed when you come visit in the middle of the night.
You are growing to be so independent! Just this morning when I came downstairs you were already up. You had turned the Christmas tree on, found your cartoons, and tried pouring yourself a cup of apple juice. The apple juice was ALL over the counter, but I was so proud that you tried to do it yourself, that I couldn't be mad.
You love your sister so much and love to play with her and also annoy her. :-) She loves you back, big time!
Some of your favorite things are working on "projects" or crafts, painting, playing outside, watching Spongebob or Phineas and Ferb, going to the playground, playing games on the computer, playing with your best friend, Hunter, juice, cheese, nuggets, fries, dumplings, and a peanut butter and sandwich (that's how you specifically ask for that for lunch every. single. day.).
You love to pick out your own outfits and some of them are fabulous. But most days, you'll ask if we are going into public and if I tell you no, 99% of the time you'll come down in the some Mario shirt and pants, whether those pants go with that shirt or not!
I love you little man!
Love,
Mommy

See! He can be sweet!
I almost forgot to write about this one!
On Thanksgiving we were at my in-laws and Aiden and I were hanging out in my father-in-law's bedroom because that's where the awesome massage chair is and we needed to get massaged over and over and over again! :-)
The cartoon channel was on so of course that means lots and lots of toy commercials to which we always hear, "I want that!" or "I'm getting that!". After one commercial came one and Aiden told me he wanted whatever it was, I asked him what he really wanted Santa to bring him the most. He responded with "the coloring changing "Grusty" aka Lightning McQueen and the talking Grusty.
I couldn't believe he only told me 2 things because he wants EVERYTHING!! I asked him if he really only wanted Santa to bring him 2 things and he told me, "Yeah, I only want 2 things because all the other kids need to get things too."
OMG. I think it brought tears to my eyes.
He does listen to things we say! And, he can be sweet and think of others!
That was a very proud Mommy moment! <3

Emma - 19 Months
Dear Emma,
Today you are 19 months old! I know I say this every time, but time is flying! You are getting to be such a big and smart girl! You are saying TONS of new things and repeating just about everything we say. You're favorite words to say are, "ook" (look), "peas" (please), "nah" (no), and "okayyyy". Those are the ones we hear at least a million times a day!
It's December and lots of people have their lights up outside. You LOVE to see all the pretty lights. Every time we back out of our driveway when it's dark you'll see our lights and yell "wow!". I'm sure that makes Daddy's heart feel really big! :-) You've been great with the Christmas tree! I was sure that you were going to be ripping ornaments off all day long, but for the most part, you leave it alone. You just yell "ook" at all the ornaments.
You still love to play hide and seek with us, color, play with playdoh, paint, go for walks outside (if it's not too cold!), and pretend that you're playing Mario on the Wii with Aiden. You are also still a great sleeper! You go to bed at 7:30 and most mornings are awake around 7-7:30.
You have gotten so much better at feeding yourself now and don't make too big of a mess when you do! We haven't really attempted a big girl cup yet. You play with one in the bathtub so you get what you're supposed to do, but don't quite get the water to stay in your mouth yet, so we'll just leave that for the tub for now!
You are learning so much, so fast! I swear you're a genius!
I love you!

A Bad Lesson...
So I had a bad Mommy moment while we were at Ronnie's Market the other day. Everyone's bound to have them. And I probably didn't teach Aiden the best lesson which is why it was a bad moment...
We had already looked at all the trees and picked out our ornaments, when we went to check out Aiden's favorite part about going there...watching the trains drive around. I watched them with Emma for a couple minutes and then wandered off to look at the ornaments they have that can be personalized.
Emma and I found a little soccer player that was wearing red shorts. This was Aiden's first year playing soccer and his team colors were red and black. I thought this ornament would be great for remembering it. I picked it up and went off to show him and Patrick. Patrick agreed that we should get it for him and I went to hand it to Patrick (since he was the one with the wallet!) and somehow that darn ornament slipped right outta my hand and fell right onto the concrete floor and pieces went everywhere. Damn it!
Patrick says, "Great, now we just bought 2 of those." What? Why? Don't they expect some to get broken and just say, be more careful next time. Not one person that worked there looked in our direction and we were already spending at least $20 in ornaments, if not more!
This is where I had my "Bad Mommy teaching moment"...
I told Patrick look, no one noticed. Yes, I know there are cameras around there but still no one came to us. Patrick carried that head and body parts around for awhile and nothing. We walked to look at the fountains and still nothing. Aiden was now asking what about the broken ornament, what are gonna do with it, how did you break it...blah, blah, blah. I told him to shush and stop talking about it. He was gonna get us in trouble if he kept on. Yes, in hindsight (is that how you say/spell that?) I should have told him he was right and should have gone right up to the counter and told them what happened and deal with what they wanted me to do. I know this, don't judge me. Instead, Patrick stuck the poor broken little guy on a stand with the fountains.
So really? He's just as bad as I am. We certainly won the worse parenting award that night. Don't be honest, hide your accident, and run like hell out the door when Patrick pays.
I feel bad, but we did spend a lot of money in there that night, as we do every year. Now, I'm sure when we go in next year they are going to have our pictures next to the register and they're gonna throw us out. Oh man....

Y3W: A Christmas Tradition
Every year (since I was little) my family has gone to Ronnie's Market to look at their Christmas trees. For those not from around here, they have a bunch of Christmas trees all decorated in different themes: Snowmen, fishing, dancing, Irish, even a wine themed tree, all kinds of themes!
We would go and look at the trees and then we would all pick a new ornament to hang on our Christmas tree. It's funny, looking back through our ornaments, we could always and can still remember whose was whose.
Patrick and I have continued this tradition with our kids and Tuesday night, despite the yucky weather, we bundled up and that's where we headed. Emma thought the trees were fabulous and we heard lots of "wow's!" from her. :-) Aiden was pretty excited too and probably would have run all over the place if we would of let him.
After looking all around at the pretty lights and trees, everyone made their selections. Here's our new 2011 ornaments:
We had an ordeal with that darn soccer ornament...in which I may not have taught Aiden the best lesson, but we'll leave that for another post. :-)

Our Christmas Cards
Each year, well for the last 2 years, my cousin and I have taken each others family picture to use for a Christmas card. We probably stress over our outfits for everyone WAY too much! But if you know us, it's totally us.
As soon as we get to my aunt and uncle's we rush everyone into the family room and start snapping away. This year my aunt was even nice enough to change her curtains and put up a Christmas tree to be in the picture with us so it would be different from last years. She's so Martha!
Emma wasn't the least bit interested in cheesing for the camera. I was so hoping that she would do her usual super cheese face, but she sat there stone faced. Oh well, at least we got some good ones!
Here's the one we decided to go with on our Christmas card.

Black Friday Recap
You may remember my post about Black Friday shopping last week. I was extremely stressed out about possibly not shopping. Well, I have the most amazing grandmother in the world (for lots of other reasons than this) and she came to my rescue! Even though I'm 90% sure she would rather do anything than drag herself outta bed at 6 am to come over, she did it anyway because she loves us. :-)
It seemed like most people were out at midnight, but we like to stick to the early morning, but not too early. When we first got to the mall, it was awesome, there were lots of parking spaces and not too many people in the stores, yet we were still able to get all the awesome deals! Why would anyone want to go at midnight??
After spending lots of hours and money (I still don't know my total because I'm too scared to add it up. Let's just say I was waiting for one of the stores to decline me!) at the mall we had lunch and moved on to Toys R Us. Again, that store wasn't so bad either by the time we got there. After that we hit Kohl's and then Target.
I have to say that after this trip I am just about finished shopping for everyone. I mightneed get a couple more things for Patrick and stocking stuffers but I got way more than I probably needed. Isn't that part of the fun on Black Friday? I was even able to get a few things for myself! :-)
I can't believe how long we were out tearing it up at the stores. I thought we'd be home around 12:30 - 1:00 since we left here at 6:30, but we didn't get home until about 4:00. Wow!! Then it was off to my Aunt and Uncle's for Thanksgiving leftovers, which is the best after a long day of shopping!
Until next year credit card! I wish I had taken a picture of all our bags in the back of the van. It was ridiculous!! But, I forgot since we had to cram them all up to the middle to fit Patrick's new ping pong table in the back!
